First make sure it is the island beach
Sai Kaew in this guide is the beach on Ko Samet, Rayong. Use the island name with your searches, hotel enquiries and transport booking, because a familiar beach name alone is not enough to establish the destination. TAT’s Rayong overview places Sai Kaew among the east-coast beaches of Ko Samet. This guide concentrates on using that beach for a short stay; it is not an attempt to fit every bay, attraction and island activity into a single weekend.
The trip has at least three distinct pieces: reach the mainland departure point, cross to Ko Samet, and get from the landing to your accommodation. Clarify all three before paying for a room. A ticket described as a boat to Samet does not by itself tell you the exact pier or whether ground transport to Sai Kaew is included. Likewise, an island hotel’s published transfer can be specific to its own guests, chosen room categories or booking conditions.
Match the boat to the booking
Samed Resorts publishes transfer information for Sai Kaew Beach Resort and its related properties. The page describes mainland services in Ban Phe, a sea crossing and an island connection to the resort. It also distinguishes different boat arrangements. Use that information as a reason to ask the right questions, not as a universal public ferry timetable. Confirm the current check-in pier, departure, landing, luggage arrangements and final transfer directly for your booking and travel date.
If buying independent transport, write down both the departure and arrival pier names. Compare them with your hotel’s pickup instructions, and settle who handles the final island leg. Avoid a vague agreement to meet at the pier when the parties may mean different places. If arriving late, confirm a workable alternative before committing to a departure from Bangkok; do not assume the last part of the journey can always be arranged on arrival or that every boat can land directly at the beach.

Leave room for the change from road to sea
At the mainland departure point, allow time for unloading, finding the correct operator and completing its boarding procedures. Pack what you need for the crossing so that you do not have to open large bags in a queue. Ask how boarding and landing work if someone has limited mobility or needs assistance. A boat service marketed as convenient is not evidence of level access. Do not promise a wheelchair user or a traveller with an injury that the journey is step-free without checking the actual vessel and pier.
Samed Resorts describes mainland parking options and leaving a car before the island crossing. If driving, confirm the location, charges and retrieval arrangements with the parking provider; a resort description is not a blanket parking guarantee. Keep the vehicle and boat tickets organised separately. On the return, allow for the island pickup, boat departure and mainland road journey as separate commitments. Avoid a plan that depends on the boat arriving at exactly the moment you need to board a distant onward service.
Decide how much of the island you need
For an overnight visit centred on Sai Kaew, make the first afternoon about settling into the actual beach area. Find the route between the room, beach access and dinner, then decide whether you still want another outing. TAT’s Rayong information identifies several separate east-coast bays on Ko Samet. That is useful orientation, but it does not establish an easy continuous beach walk or a fixed transport fare between them. A neighbouring bay can have a different access arrangement and daily atmosphere.
A relaxed next morning might mean a short shore walk, breakfast and time in one chosen part of the beach before the return journey. If adding a boat activity, check its meeting point, return time and whether it conflicts with the departure transfer. Keep a beach day flexible when local conditions do not suit swimming. Follow posted notices and staff instructions, and do not interpret a bright photograph of the water as evidence of safe conditions on your travel date.
Check charges and room location in advance
Ask the accommodation or relevant park authority about any current island or park charges that apply to your visit, and establish how those are paid. This guide does not quote a fee or claim that every entry arrangement is the same. A transport fare, a room booking and a statutory entrance charge are different items. A package should specify what it includes; if the wording is unclear, obtain an answer before arrival rather than relying on another traveller’s old receipt.
Compare the exact room category and building with the stay you imagine. A resort can relate to more than one stretch of shore, and a beachfront photograph does not mean every room opens straight onto the sand. Ask where the room stands, what the route to Sai Kaew involves and whether any meal or transfer inclusion depends on the rate. With the arrival and return organised, a short island stay becomes much easier to enjoy without spending the best part of each day resolving transport.
Questions worth checking
Does a Ko Samet boat ticket include my hotel transfer?
Not automatically. Confirm the exact island landing and the final transfer to the hotel; an operator’s resort package can differ from independent transport.
